Gender-Based Violence Unit

IMG 4334NIMH has recently established a separate unit to offer psychological counseling to people in abusive family situations.

The Gender-Based Violence Unit is designed to provide treatment to people who have become emotionally distressed due to domestic violence.

Currently, the unit is providing individualized treatment programs for clients in the hospital as well as any members of the community who need assistance.

Research shows that when you have a separate space provided for this type of treatment, it makes it much easier for the medical, hospital and other affiliated staff to provide the best possible service and treatment for these patients. It also makes it easier for the medical and nursing staff to work in collaboration with the other agencies for the benefit of these patients.
