NIMH celebrates New Year festival

New Year festival was held in the T. B. Illangarathne grounds on 30th of May with the participation of the patients and staff of the NIMH. Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Harischandra Gambeera was the chief guest in this occasion. Deputy Director, Consultants and all the staff categories actively participated in this occasion.

Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka with National Institute of Mental Health and the Center for International Mental Health, University of Melbourne, Australia launched the project on Strengthening Mental Health Human Recourses on11th February at the Ministry of the Health Colombo, Sri Lanka. Minister of Health, Australian High Commissioner, Consultant psychiatrists and other Ministry Officials participated for the occasion

  • Please note that all research proposals need to be handed over to the secretary ERC 3 days prior to the ERC meeting, held 3rd Friday of that month.
  • Proposals receive after the deadline will be only considered at the next month’s meeting.
  • Proposals should be handed over along with a properly filled application and no proposal will be accepted without a complete application.
  • Undergraduates need to submit a letter from the supervisor.
  • External researchers should submit a brief CV to the ERC.
  • Applications can be downloaded from NIMH website

The Final Grand Ward Round and Farewell Tea Party will be held on the 02.12.2013 at the National Institute of Mental Health.

The Ward round will start at 8.00 a.m. on 02.12.2013 from the OPD and proceed to Wards 06, 03, 09, 14, Villas, 25, 22 and end at ward 21. The farewell tea party will be held at the training unit.

All are welcomed to participate in bidding farewell to this great clinician, educator, mentor and pioneer in the fields of General, Community and Forensic Psychiatry.
